Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My wife is 23 years old and is currently seven weeks pregnant. Tonight, she experienced her first instance of a spot, characterized by bright red blood that did not fill an entire tissue sheet. Since yesterday morning, she has been experiencing lower back pain, likely due to her job involving lifting toddlers. Additionally, she has been having mild abdominal cramps, which she describes as less painful than typical period cramps. We are particularly concerned about the spotting and want to ensure the well-being of our baby. We have an upcoming Obstetrics and Gynecology appointment, but we are unable to secure an earlier appointment. We are uncertain about what steps to take and I want to ensure the safety of my wife and our baby. Kindly help.

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

Based on your description, the bleeding could potentially be implantation bleeding or the beginning of an abortion. However, if the bleeding is not accompanied by severe pain and excessive bleeding, it is likely to be implantation bleeding. She needs to avoid lifting heavy weights and engaging in rough journeys. She should continue taking folic acid tablets and if prescribed, progesterone tablets as well.

To determine the situation more accurately, it is recommended to conduct a Hcgtest today and again in two days. Based on the test results, we can conclude the possibility of implantation or other factors.

In the meantime, she should avoid overexertion and minimize stress levels. She should stay hydrated by consuming at least three liters of water per day and incorporating green leafy vegetables and fruits into her diet.

I hope I have addressed your concerns. Feel free to reach out if you have any further questions.

Thank you.
