Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 24-year-old male. My height is 5 feet and 4 inches, and my weight is 48 kg. My thigh was broken six years ago, and a rod with three screws was fitted. After four months, two screws were removed. One screw and a rod are still left in my thigh. Can I withdraw the rod now? After so long, will it still be present? I am not feeling too much difficulty. Please suggest me.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. If you have no problem with the rod, then you can leave it. If you have to get it removed for some reason or if it is causing pain or any other difficulties, then it is safe to remove it, provided the fracture has healed, which will be seen on X-rays. This is a professional suggestion subjected to the actual examination of reports, images, and inputs provided to me. It can be correlated with clinical findings for accurate diagnosis. Follow-up in case of queries. I hope this helps.

Thank you.
