Patient's Query

Hello,

I have noticed some blood in my back passage. However, this started just as my period started. I had been for a CT scan three weeks ago and a colonoscopy four weeks ago, both of which were clear. Could this be a sign of endometritis? Can you get endometritis at the age of 48? As I am going through the perimenopause. The blood is like period blood. I discussed this with my consultant yesterday, and he did not seem as concerned as I was. He mentioned hemorrhoids as a possible cause. He also said that given that both CT scans and colonoscopy were clear, it is unlikely to be cancer as it could not develop in that short time. Also, I was referred for a colonoscopy as I was experiencing a change in bowel habits over three months, such as constipation and large mushy bowel movements, so I am not sure if constipation could cause some blood. Also, I have not had a bowel movement in two days. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Your symptoms are suggestive of a bowel infection.

I have the following suggestions for you-

1. You must drink a lot of warm water.

2. You must avoid oily and spicy food.

3. You must get a colonoscopy because your symptoms suggest hemorrhoids, colitis, or cancer.

4. You can also go for MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) to rule out the other causes of your symptoms.

I hope you found this helpful. Feel free to ask for more information.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi,

As I already mentioned, I had a colonoscopy four weeks ago, which was clear. Also, a CT scan was done three weeks ago, which was negative. I met my consultant yesterday. He suggested it could be hemorrhoids, given that both colonoscopy and CT were negative. He said it is unlikely to be cancer and suggested it may be endometritis.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Sometimes it is difficult to find anything in colonoscopy and CT (computed tomography) for the first time. Also, sometimes doctors send a biopsy of the concerned area though it seems normal in appearance.

That is why I suggested MRI (magnetic resonance imaging). This is because so many diseases not detected in CT (computed tomography) can be seen in MRI.

These symptoms can be related to carcinoma or even enteritis. So, it is difficult to diagnose these diseases.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
