Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My mom is 67 years old. She has breast cancer with bone and liver metastasis. Liver cirrhosis is also present. She has a loss of appetite, a cough with blood, and cannot sleep. I am worried because she is becoming weak. I have attached her reports for your reference.
Kindly suggest.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern. From the reports attached (attachment was removed to protect the patient's identity), the diagnosis is breast cancer with metastasis to the liver and bones. Also, I suggest a second diagnosis of primary liver cancer.
I suggest you perform the following tests and consult an oncologist to start the treatment:
1. Mammogram (X-ray of the breast).
2. Serum alpha-fetoprotein test (tumor marker).
I hope this helps. Kindly revert in case of further queries.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Mammogram is under the combined reports on page 30. The doctors have started hormone treatment. Chemotherapy or other interventions for liver cancer are being discussed. She was taken to the hospital two days ago, as she was weak and had a transfusion. Now, she is doing better.
Kindly give your suggestions.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
There are various chemotherapy drugs that regress the tumor with a good prognosis. She should not catch any infections, particularly respiratory tract infections.
So, I suggest you discuss with your doctor the following vaccines:
1. Flu shot.
2. Pneumococcal vaccine.
3. Herpes zoster vaccine.
I hope this helps you.
Kindly revert in case of further queries.
