Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My baby boy is 8 months old. My wife breastfeeds him, but her milk is not sufficient and nutritious. We gave him formula milk for six months, and since then, we have been providing him with cow's milk. I have learned that cow's milk can be harmful to a baby's health. We are financially constrained and can no longer afford formula milk. Please recommend an alternative milk or another option. Also, is goat's milk safe for a baby? I would greatly appreciate your response.

Hi,

I am glad you chose icliniq for your medical-related queries.

I understand your concern.

Mother's milk is always nutritious and healthy. It is a gift from nature that helps the baby fight against diseases. However, if the breastmilk supply is insufficient and the baby is not getting enough nourishment, you can explore other options. Cow's milk, though, has lower iron content, so it is generally recommended after the baby reaches one year of age. But if you cannot afford formula milk, you can supplement with cow's milk along with other nutritious meals, especially since your baby is already 8 months old. Cooking semolina in milk, homemade porridge, sago seeds, vegetables, and fruits are all good choices for your baby.

I hope this has helped you.

Thank you.
