Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a mom of a 3-month-old baby boy has stopped drinking milk after 40 days. I used to pump and bottle-feed him my milk but now I do not have milk and he is always hungry. He does not drink formula. Please help.

Hello.

Welcome to icliniq.com. I read your query and can understand your concern.

It is better you have milk daily so you can have milk for the baby. You can also have medication like Metoclopramide or antidepressants to increase milk production. However, please consult a physician, discuss with them, and start taking the medications with their consent. I can prescribe these medications but they have side effects like headaches and mood variations. Try to use both breasts and make sure that there is proper sucking and emptying of breasts. If the baby is unable to empty the breast try to have a suction pump to clear the milk. This will increase milk production naturally. You can use hot fermentation to empty breasts.

Hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.
