Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am an 18-year-old female. I have been sexually active since the age of 13, and I lost my virginity at age 15. The last attempt at having intercourse with my boyfriend was very painful.
I experienced an intense burning sensation, and it was difficult for me to enjoy it like I used to. I do not know if my age would have anything to do with the pain I am experiencing during sex.
I looked up possible causes, and the symptoms of vaginismus matched the physical description of my problem, but I am not sure if that is for sure because it was self-diagnosed. Is there any way that I could treat this condition?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
You are 18 years old, and I do not think age has anything to do with the problem you are having.
Vaginismus is a psychological disorder in which involuntary contraction of pelvic muscles is seen which is associated with dryness in the vagina and lack of enjoyment and pain. If you have no interest in sex then we can think of this.
But you recently developed the symptoms, and you have an interest in sex. In such cases, any infective causes should be ruled out. Get your urine analysis done to find out any infection.
Spend more time in foreplay, and this will make the vagina relaxed and moist, and thus, pain will decrease. Use a lubricant during sex. This will help to reduce the pain during sex.
I hope it helps.
Take care.
Thanks and regards.
