Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 16-year-old female and was prescribed Buspar 7.5 mg twice daily about a month ago. Every time I take it, I get a high feeling. My entire body becomes tingly, and I also get giggly. It feels like my whole body is high. I am relaxed. I thought it was my body trying to get used to the medication, but it continued to happen each time I took it for two weeks. Finally, I got so fed up with the feeling that I quit taking it altogether. I have taken other medications for anxiety, such as Zoloft and Prozac, but I never had that kind of outcome with either. Why did this happen to me? Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Though you have given details of the dosage and the medicine you are taking now, you have not mentioned the complaints for which these medicines were prescribed. Please mention your complaints, the total duration of complaints, etc., in your query. Also, mention a detailed treatment history so that I can guide you regarding the treatment as well. Anyways, the tingly and giggly feeling you are having is not a common side effect of the medicine. Do you have restlessness, shakiness, muscle stiffness, jerkiness, or jerky walking movement? If that is the case, it might be due to tardive dyskinesia, a rare side effect of the medicine. Do you have any history of manic episodes? Because if you have, then you should immediately stop the medicine and consult your psychiatrist. Kindly give a detailed reply so that your queries are answered to the best extent possible.
Thank you.
