Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My mother is under treatment for hypothyroidism (Eltroxin 50 mcg) and hypertension (Olmezest 20 mg). For a couple of years, she used to have calluses in the foot, which were too painful last winter. She had applied "Kerosal F" lotion for three weeks, which gave some relief, but neither the calluses are completely cured, nor the pain was fully gone. I have attached pictures of the calluses.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

Frankly, the photos are not very clear so if you could send a more clear view of the sole it will be helpful because, in the first photo, there seems to be a black dot. In that case, chances of plantar wart arise so it is difficult for me to comment with clarity. Till then she can start applying Xerina cream twice a day over the feet and I will need a few details.

  1. Duration of the problem?
  2. Type of pain is it at any particular point or in the entire heel?
  3. Share the last blood sugar levels.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Yes, there seems a black dot on the top of the callus for the first one in the foot. It is there for almost a couple of years. The pain is only at the point where the callus is present. I have also uploaded her general laboratory results.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Please find a couple of new photos attached for the callus in the foot sole. Kindly review and advise on the next steps.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Your mother may start applying Duofilm over the black spot after applying Vaseline on the surrounding skin. Duofilm has to be applied twice daily for fifteen minutes increasing to thirty minutes at the maximum. Clean with water thereafter. The callus is not visible in the photographs but Duofilm can be applied to it too. If the feet are soaked in warm water followed by mild scrubbing before application of the medicine then the results will be better. Massage feet with Xerina cream twice daily

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Should the Duo film cream be applied twice daily for 3-weeks? I also, have a query for my 2-year-old daughter as well. Since birth, she seems to have some white patches in the portion between the abdomen and right leg (marked by the red circle in the photo). As per our pediatrician, it is a birth spot and nothing can be done. Can I request your review if this is something normal or, needs some further treatment?

Answered by Dr. Meha Malhotra

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

In case the black spot is present for 20 days keep applying Duofilm if it disappears contact us then. As for your daughter, are these spots present since birth? Are they on both sides? Are they changing in size shape or color? Does it seem to be itching there?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

No, currently it is present on the right side only, but as per my wife, earlier it was on both sides. As per my wife, the patches are reduced over time. There is no itching.

Answered by Dr. Meha Malhotra

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

See if it is a birthmark it will not disappear like this. Infants and toddlers often have such white spots which decrease with time. Please wait and watch for a few months in case in between they increase in size or number do contact us.

I hope it helps.
