Why am I experiencing pain in my organs after starting Cariprazine?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have recently been taking a new medication called Vraylar. I was doing great on it until I had to go to the emergency room because my organs were hurting, mainly my liver, gallbladder, kidneys, and sides of my intestines. They said I was dehydrated and had too much creatinine. The funny thing is, it was not the saline they gave me for dehydration that made my organs stop hurting, but a different IV (intravenous) to decrease the creatinine levels.

While researching Vraylar, I came across an online article that claimed it raised creatinine phosphokinase. I was wondering if it would be the drug hurting me or if it could be something else. I never had similar symptoms earlier. I am also taking Lamotrigine, Bystolic, and Trazodone.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read the query, and I can understand your concern.

I am very sorry about your medical condition. I am here to take care of you. Regarding your symptoms and experience with the drug Vraylar (Cariprazine), you are experiencing medication side effects that caused an inflammatory response to organ damage with the release of creatinine phosphokinase enzyme at the level of body tissues. So please stop the medications. If your symptoms persist, schedule another appointment for follow-up.

I hope this will help you.

Thank you.
