Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 20 years old, and I had some bad experiences when I was of 5 years of age. No one in my family or anyone knows about this incident, and it is affecting my mental health now. I do not get flashbacks about teh incident, but it is always on my mind, consciously or unconsciously. I have anxiety issues and depression. I feel like someone is always watching me and seeing silhouettes or shadows. I am not able to trust anyone. Also, I am emotionally numb. Rarely do I get suicidal thoughts, but I will not do it. I'm not too fond of meeting or interacting with people. Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Childhood experiences play an important role in one's life. They shape our personalities and develop our core beliefs. I understand that you had some traumatic childhood experiences. It may be due to PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder), but to confirm, a detailed assessment is required. I would suggest you go for counseling sessions. Otherwise, the condition may worsen with time. Self-harming is never a solution to any problem.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
