Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My child is an 11-year-old boy. Since last year, he has been good in his studies and other activities. Also, he had a good relationship with the people around him. But before nine months, his father passed away by suicide, hanging himself. He has seen him in that condition. Since that day, he has been acting stubbornly, very arrogant, and cannot deal with anyone in a proper manner. In school, if the teacher asks him something, he is sensible. If we ask him something, his answers are illogical and very irritating. I tried to ask him many times, but he always kept himself silent about his father's death. Since that day, I did not find him to miss his father or sad about him, though he was very close to him. Please guide me on what to do.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for taking help from a psychiatrist.

I can understand your situation and concern about your child.

Your son has the biggest trauma on his mind at this young age. He may have major depressive disorder but still needs further evaluation. You must take him to the nearest psychologist or psychiatrist for a detailed evaluation.

I hope that you get my point.

Please let me know if you need some help.

Thank you.
