Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have a red cut, which is swollen, the scabs are yellow, and it burns and itches. How can I get rid of the infection on my own?

Answered by Dr. Sugandh Garg

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Please mention how long or how old the injury (cut) is.

With your description, the cut should be around one week old. First, clean the wound properly. Take antiseptic lotion, put on the cotton, and clean it thoroughly. Do not use water to clean. Do not cover the wound or put on a band-aid. Consult with your specialist, talk to them, and take medications with their consent. Put on an antiseptic ointment twice a day after cleaning. You may use T-bact ointment (Mupirocin and Bromelain) or Neosporin ointment. For any sign of infection, I suggest the following medications.

1. Tablet Ciprofloxacin 500 mg twice a day after meals.

2. Tablet Ibuprofen 400 mg three times a day after meals.

If you do not get the tablets without visiting the doctor, please follow proper cleaning with an antiseptic solution and antiseptic ointment.

Kind regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
