Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I noticed a little red bump on the top of my labia minora (right underneath the clitoris). It looks a bit swollen and it is sensitive to touch. I did notice a small bump on the outer side of that labia minora too but I cannot be certain that was not there before. I have had Bartholin's cysts in the past, so I know it is not that and I do have genital herpes and it does not seem like it is an outbreak either. I really do not know what it could be? Please help. If need be I will even attach a picture.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your text mentions the lump to be below the clitoris, so is it just above the opening where you pass urine (urethra)? In that case, it could be a urethral caruncle? You can search for the images of the urethral caruncle and see if it matches your problem. If not send me the pictures, so we can make a diagnosis.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

No, I do not think it is a urethral caruncle. My bump is a bit more on the actual clitoris. I will attach a picture.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

As you said, and from the picture (attachment removed to protect patient identity), it does not look like a urethral caruncle. It is most probably an inflammatory swelling at the top of the clitoris. Is it becoming painful for you now? I would advise you to take an antibiotic course of tablet Augmentin (Amoxicillin and clavulanate) two times a day for five days. I hope you have no allergies to medication. It is safe to take it along with your current medicines. This tablet is the best taken just before food. If painful, please take any pain killer which you are comfortable with.

I hope this helps.

Treatment plan

Augmentin.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
