What does a yellowish stain on the diaper indicate?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My baby is three months old and will be turning four months. I am concerned about the color of her urine, as I believe it does not appear normal. Her urine is a pastel yellow color with a cloudy texture. Additionally, the yellowish stain becomes visible when I fold the back of her diaper.
Kindly help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
Based on the limited information provided, it appears that your baby is passing yellowish, cloudy urine and is frequently irritable.
Cloudy urine in infants can be due to several reasons, such as insufficient milk intake, a possible infection, or the presence of an excessive amount of urates.
The most important step is to rule out a urinary tract infection.
Please consider the following questions:
-
For how many days has she been experiencing this issue?
-
Does she cry while passing urine?
-
Is she passing an adequate amount of urine?
-
Does her urine have a foul odor?
I recommend that you have the following tests done:
-
Routine urine analysis: Ensure the local area is cleaned thoroughly, and try to collect the urine sample as cleanly as possible.
-
Urine nitrites: If the results suggest an infection, a urine culture test should be conducted to identify the specific cause.
Make sure the baby is feeding well; I assume she is currently being breastfed.
Please continue giving her Vitamin D drops as prescribed.
I hope this information helps you.
Please let us know if you have any further queries.
Thank you.
