What causes constipation despite having a healthy lifestyle?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am suffering from constipation despite drinking enough water and eating fibrous food. What could be the reason for my constipation?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

I understand your concern. So, even if you pass stools thrice a week, there is nothing to worry about. Constipation has many causes, but the most common is slow transit constipation. So I suggest you to follow a few instructions mentioned below.

  1. Drink a couple of glasses of water in the morning at first.
  2. Increase your fiber intake.

Also, do you have pain while defecating or blood in your stools?

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
