Why does a corpus luteum cyst cause a false positive pregnancy test? And does it show false positives in both blood and urine tests?

Hello doctor,
Thank you for taking the time to answer my question, after reading through it I had a few more queries hope you could help me out. How could a false positive due to corpus luteum cyst only occur in the urine pregnancy test and blood test? Do they both detect presence of beta hCG? It was said that blood pregnancy tests deduct even lower concentrations of beta hCG compared to urine tests, so if someone could get a false positive on a urine test should not the concentrations be enough to show up on a blood test? Are the tests affected by different types of hCG, is that what causes this difference in results?

False positive pregnancy test due to corpus luteum could be due to the slightest attachment of a fertilized egg that detaches sooner so that pregnancy did not progress. These levels are not detected on blood tests if you do not do them on the same day. One possibility could be taking hCG injections as well as a part of fertility treatments if you have taken them in your case.
