Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 27-year-old male having a fever of 99.5 to 100.2 degrees for a week. I have body pain, headache, and fatigue along with it. Even after taking PCM, I only have temporary relief. Previously, I had a sore throat and now it got resolved. Currently, I am taking multivitamins and I have not received my COVID-19 result. Kindly suggest some medicine.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

If your fever is constant and continuous for more than three days, you need to take antibiotics. After getting the reports of COVID-19 (severe respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2), kindly send me. For now, follow this suggested treatment. You can take tablet Azithromycin 500 mg once daily after meal for three days. Continue taking multivitamins and take PCM 500 mg (Paracetamol or Acetaminophen). Drink lukewarm water and take steam inhalation three times a day. Gargle your mouth with salt and warm water.

The Probable causes

You seem to have an infection.

Investigations to be done

You need to do RT-PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) for COVID-19 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2).

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I am positive for COVID-19. I took a tablet of Azithromycin 500 mg today. I have a fever and tiredness alone. Kindly guide me for further medication.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have gone through the reports (attachment removed to protect patient identity). Your symptoms are mild and so do not be worried. You need to stay under home quarantine and monitor your symptoms regularly. Kindly finish your three-day course of Azithromycin. Replace it with capsule Doxycycline 100 mg after meals. You can take tablet PCM 500 mg when required. You can take tablet Vitamin C 500 mg twice a day, and tablet Vitamin B complex daily after food at night.

You can take tablet Ivermectin 12 mg single dose and take capsule Oseltamivir 75 mg in the morning and evening after food for five days. You can take capsule Lumia 60 K (Cholecalciferol) with milk. Have gargling with Betadine once every four hours. Check your SpO2 (oxygen saturation) four to five times a day. If it goes below 93 percent, then get yourself examined. Kindly do HRCT (high resolution computed tomography) of the chest tomorrow and send me the reports. Please mention whether you have any other symptoms.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I am taking medicine for COVID-19. My fever is better now after taking medicines. But I have a lot of weakness and it gets increased after taking Azithromycin. I took the last dose today. My SpO2 remains between 95 to 97 percent. But my heart rate remains fluctuated. I have a high heart rate above 100 beats per minute. Yesterday, I got some red-like mucus from my nose. I am unable to sit for more than a hour due to dizziness and weakness.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Kindly replace Azithromycin with Doxycycline 100 mg. Take it once a day after a meal. Azithromycin is given for three days alone. It is good to hear that you have improvement in your condition. It is important to get HRCT of chest. Do CBC (complete blood count), CRP (C-reactive protein), and D-dimer test. You can have further treatment based on the severity. Instead of Oseltamivir, you can start taking Fabiflu (Favipiravir).

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
