Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have done a CT scan of my left ankle. The report is attached here. Kindly see the same and advise accordingly.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have reviewed your reports (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). I can feel that the main cause of the problem is the bony spur, which is present in the nerve plexus of the heel and malleolus. The best non-invasive treatment for you is ESWT (extracorporeal shockwave therapy), which is available in a physiotherapy centre.
Extracorporeal shock wave therapy is an increasingly welcomed therapeutic approach to treat chronic and recalcitrant plantar fasciitis, with a success rate up to 34 to 88 %. ESWT targets shock waves to the plantar fascia area. The shock wave can be generated through three approaches: electrohydraulic, electromagnetic, and piezoelectric. I would like to suggest that you use a silicone heel pad in your shoe so that it reduces the friction and pain will be reduced. I would also suggest oral steroids and Ibandronic acid.
Consult your specialist doctor before taking the tablets. There is some research that talks about the surgical approach to remove the bony spur. But personally, about my experience in my practice, I would suggest ESWL, which is a non-invasive method.
I hope I have answered your questions.
Thank you.
