Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am concerned about my curved penis. I am a 25-year-old male. I am not on any medication and have not experienced any injuries.
Please advise.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand both of your concerns.
Based on your description, it sounds like the bend in your penis is more likely a normal or congenital curvature rather than Peyronie’s disease.
Peyronie’s disease typically presents with one or more of the following symptoms:
New onset curvature that progresses over weeks to months.
Pain during erection (especially in the early stages).
A palpable, hard plaque or lump on the shaft.
Erectile difficulties that develop alongside curvature.
You mentioned that you experience no pain and no other symptoms, which makes Peyronie’s less likely in your case.
Many men have a mild to moderate bend (to the left, right, up, or down). If this curvature has been stable for years and does not cause pain or difficulty during sex, it is usually considered a normal variation and does not require medication or surgery.
However, I recommend a clinical evaluation if you have any doubts. A physical exam can check for plaque, and a penile Doppler ultrasound may be necessary if plaque is suspected, if the curvature is worsening, or if your erections are affected.
Please seek urgent in-person evaluation if you notice any of the following:
Worsening curvature.
Pain during erection.
A new hard lump or plaque.
Difficulty with penetration or new erectile dysfunction (ED).
A sudden injury during sex with a “pop,” swelling, or bruising.
Treatment is only necessary if these issues lead to significant problems, such as difficulty caused by pronounced curvature. Possible options include plication surgery or other corrective procedures, but these would follow a proper assessment.
I hope this guidance proves helpful. I appreciate any feedback you have for better patient care, and if you have any further concerns, feel free to contact me anytime.
Thank you so much for reaching out.
