Is it possible to have both short-sightedness and farsightedness at the same time?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor

I wondered whether it is possible to be short and long-sighted at the same time. For example, I wear contact lenses or glasses for short-sightedness. Still, when I do not wear them, I also find that things close to me are also blurred (my entire vision seems to be blurry instead of before when it was just far-off items). Is there something going wrong with my eyes, or is this normal?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query carefully. You mentioned you are having short-sightedness, but you have not said it is a spherical or cylindrical axis. If you have cylinder correction (with the axis mentioned), what you are experiencing is possible, and I am sure your eyes are normal. Do not worry. Check your refractive correction, and if possible, upload it for me to explain it to you in detail. Thank you.
