I have dark spots on my face. What skin care can help me?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have spots on my face, and I have tried many products, but they have not helped. I want a perfect solution for my skin care, as I want baby-soft skin.

I have PCOS, but I do not have pimples. However, the dark spots are not fading, and I am suffering from marks on my face.

Please suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query at iCliniq. I can completely understand your situation.

Acne marks and pigmentation spots on the face are a concern. Thank you so much for sharing the picture. From the given picture (the attachments were removed to protect the patient's identity), I can see you have multiple scar marks, a few moles, and dark spots on the nose and side of the cheek.

In order to treat the moles, you may need electrocautery by your local dermatologist. And for the acne marks and the dark marks on your face, I will give you a step-by-step routine that you can try to get clear skin. This includes:

  1. First of all, in the morning, use a non-foaming, gentle face wash, followed by a non-comedogenic ceramide-based moisturiser available in your country.

  2. After the moisturizer and before applying sunscreen, try using Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate Cream five percent, a vitamin C cream that will help reduce dark marks.

  3. Then, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen SPF (sun protection factor) 50 to avoid further pigmentation.

  4. In the evening, use Azelaic Acid 20 percent cream, a pea-sized amount on the whole face, followed by the moisturiser.

Continue this routine for at least one month to notice a considerable improvement in your skin.

For deeper marks, you may need PRP (platelet-rich plasma) or laser resurfacing. The pigmentation will be much improved with this regimen.

Try this for at least six to eight weeks, and you should see healthier, glowing skin.

I hope you find this helpful.

Thank you.
