Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 22-year-old female. In these few weeks, I have started having pain in my wrist, especially on the radial side. I feel pain when I move my wrist and thumb. Also, I noticed more clicking sounds this week, which sometimes cause pain, and my hand goes numb. On the side of my hand, I have a bit of swelling (near the wrist vein) and tenderness to touch, which I have been doing some ice on it for the past two days. The swelling went a bit down but not completely. I have been wearing the splint as my doctor told me, but to be honest, for these past two days, I did not wear the splint all day to see whether the splint could be causing this bit of swelling or not, but I do not think so. I want to get some idea of what I could have. I will be doing an MRI soon.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern.
The symptoms you have described typically point towards the condition known as de-quivering tenosynovitis. No need for an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging). Do fomentation with ice and use a splint. You can also use Gabapentin ointment over that. Also, get ultrasonic therapy. If you find no relief in two weeks, you can consult a specialist doctor and get local infiltration there.
Thank you.
