Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My one eye sees darker than the other. Six months back, I checked my eyesight and it was 0.25 in both eyes. Four years back, it was 0.25 in right eye and 0.5 in left eye.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It seems you have a more or less steady glass power ranging from 0.25 to 0.50. However, one eye seeing darker than the other is generally not caused by this eye power. One eye seeing lighter shades of color like red than the other generally points to the fact that something is causing difficulty in the color and contrast sensitivity of that eye. That something is mostly our optic nerve or the nerve that carries visual stimulus to our brain. The problem may be from birth or maybe acquired later. I would suggest you to get the tests done at an eye clinic namely vision checkup, color vision checkup, contrast sensitivity test by Pelli Robson chart, VEP test and detailed eye examination including retina checkup. I hope I have been clear. It may not be serious anything but there is no harm to be sure of that by doing the tests. I hope this helps.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

And adding to this in dim light my left eye is not seeing far objects clearly. I do not wear any glasses. I can read a book with 1-2 feet way with both eyes clearly without any difficulty (right eye is little better). But on mobile for the same distance my left eye is little blurry, I can read with some difficulty and right eye has no problem. Is this a problem?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Well, sometimes vision or clarity in two eyes are not similar without any apparent reason. But in most cases, there is a reason for it. Dryness of eyes which is very common with excessive digital screen exposure will generally cause equal discomfort in both eyes. I suggest you to get your eyes checked to see if any cataract has developed or not, especially if you are using inhaler, skin ointment, homeopathic, or ayurvedic treatment for a long time. Having said that slight dissimilarities between two eyes without apparently any reason can also occur and should not worry you. Try using lubricant eyedrop Refresh Tears one drop four times per day for one month and get your eyes checked with the tests said before in the meantime.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
