How often should I undergo deep dental scaling to overcome bleeding gums?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi Doctor,

As recommended by my dentist,I got a panoramic X ray done to see if I require root canal treatment for my tooth and if I need deep cleaning as I have bleeding gums every day in the morning. The last time I did regular cleaning was last year, and for two days, I did another session; now my bleeding is reduced every morning, but I want your advice if I still need to do deep cleaning or if it is not required.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I have reviewed your question and OPG (orthopantomogram) from the attached reports (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). The tooth does not have an exposed pulp cavity. So there is no need for root canal treatment, but the filled tooth has some secondary caries; if you have any sensitivity or pain while having hot or cold fluids, you may need to get that tooth filled. Another tooth also has a cavity. Get it filled with calcium hydroxide base because the lesion is deep.

I hope my answer will help you and give your feedback too.

Regards.
