Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had sex the last four weeks before my period and after 25 hours, I drank ECP and bled after four days. Then, I have not gotten my period this month. I went to the gynecologist yesterday and she said that she saw a dominant follicle on the right side of my ovary which will almost rupture. So, here are my questions:

  1. What does this dominant follicle mean? Do pregnant women have a dominant follicle when they are actually pregnant?
  2. Am I only ovulating right now?
  3. Am I safe from pregnancy?
  4. After how many days from now should I expect my period to arrive?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Every woman, every month, produces an egg which matures and gets ready for fertilization. The mature ovum is called dominant follicle. No, pregnant women will not have a dominant follicle. Yes, you are ovulating now. Your scan is clear, there is no chance of pregnancy. It usually takes 12 to 14 days from now to get your periods.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
