How to overcome depression and social anxiety?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am an 18-year-old girl and I got molested when I was a child. I have been struggling with depression and social anxiety ever since then. My parents do not want to help me. I also tried to commit suicide once.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for this query.

I can understand your situation. Life is precious. Do not lose hope. Suicide is not an option for a brave girl. I know it is very difficult to deal with when parents do not support. Forget the past, whatever happened. Presently you are suffering from severe depression and having suicidal ideations. I will suggest you to visit a nearby psychiatrist as soon as possible. A few antidepressants will help you in early recovery. Communicate with your friends to take emotional support from them. You can also call some help centers for family intervention and to deal with counseling and behavioral therapies.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
