Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am having itching and dry skin all over my body. Specifically on legs and hands for the last two weeks. Now, I observe red patches on the thigh, and they burn and itch a lot. Moisturizer soothes for very less time. I took Cz-3 for three days and using Atogla lotion.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have noted your concern, and I have viewed the images (attachment removed to protect patient identity).

You seem to have eczematous dermatitis. Underlying dry skin or xerosis and dry, cold weather could be the most likely reason for eczematous dermatitis. I suggest you to apply a moisturizer frequently to the whole body. In addition to this, you may apply a potent topical steroid, for example, Clobetasol propionate 0.05 % cream (Tenovate cream) or Halobetasol propionate 0.05 % (Halovate ointment) twice daily for the patches. You may also take an oral antihistamine, for example, Cetirizine 10 mg tablet once every evening for symptomatic relief from itching.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I tried it for two days but there is no relief. The burning sensation has increased.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Can you tell me what all have you used? If the creams have not worked, then a short course (two weeks) of an oral steroid, e.g., Prednisolone 40 mg (Wysolone 40) may be given.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
