How to manage type 1 diabetes with obese and hearing issues?
Patient's Query
My 52-year-old uncle has type 1 diabetes and has been gaining weight rapidly. His fasting sugar is above 300, and his doctor says his cholesterol is through the roof. He is always tired, and his joints ache all the time. Recently, he has been saying his hearing feels muffled, and he is worried it might be from his diabetes. Could this weight gain and hearing issue be connected, or is it something unrelated? How do we even start addressing all his health problems?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern.
If you have type 1 diabetes, your pancreas does not make insulin or makes very little insulin. Insulin helps blood sugar enter the cells in your body for use as energy. Without insulin, blood sugar cannot get into cells and builds up in the bloodstream. High blood sugar is damaging to the body and causes many of the symptoms and complications of diabetes.
