Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I gained a lot of weight over the holidays, and now I am in the obesity range. My recent blood work shows that I am diabetic, which is worrying because I have never been this heavy before. I am wondering if my weight is causing my high blood sugar. If I lose some weight, will my blood sugar return to normal? I am really stressed and looking for a way to get things under control. Is there a medication that can help me see quick results? I am 47 years old, and I just want to feel healthy again.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Obesity increases the risk of diabetes.
Losing weight will help lower your blood sugar levels.
However, do not wait to start diabetes treatment. Begin the treatment now, and once you lose weight and your blood sugar improves, we can reduce your medications.
There are new diabetes medications that can help with both weight loss and blood sugar control.
Please send me your reports so I can review them and recommend the right medications.
Also, provide your height, weight, and BMI (body mass index) to help me select the best medications for you.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
