Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Please review my ECG report. I am on Diltiazem.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
The ECG (electrocardiography) report (attachments removed to protect the patient’s identity) indicates the presence of nonspecific intraventricular conduction delay. Possible causes of this condition include amyloidosis, cardiomyopathy, and electrolyte imbalances, among others. Are you experiencing any symptoms? What prompted you to have an ECG?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
I had a fast heart rate. Is this something serious?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Most likely not, especially at your age. Why were you prescribed Diltiazem? Did you notice the fast heartbeat before starting Diltiazem or after? Are you taking any other medications, and do you have a family history of heart disease?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
I was prescribed Diltiazem due to anxiety and hypertension. I am not taking any other medications, and I have no family history of heart disease.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I believe the intraventricular conduction delay is most likely caused by Diltiazem. I recommend discussing with your physician the possibility of switching to a different antihypertensive medication. The conduction delay should resolve on the ECG after some time if the medication is discontinued.
Regards.
