Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 18 years old, and I have been insecure about my eyes and nose for a long time. My eyes are asymmetrical, it is not noticeable in person, but it is obvious in a photograph. However, when I am tired, my left eye droops even more. I have droopy eyelids and sometimes experience double vision. My nose, on the other hand, is broad. And I experience headaches that have been there for a long time and pressure in my eyes, and I cannot breathe properly. I went to a doctor and was prescribed antibiotics for sinusitis, but they were not beneficial. However, I have a twin sister who does not have a wide nose like me, and her eyes are symmetrical. When I was a nine-month-old baby, I had a bad fall that left me with a scar on my left eyebrow, and my left eye was swollen. Could this be the cause?

Please answer.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

Droopy eyelids, also called ptosis, are easily corrected by surgery, but as you said, your eyelids droop more when you are tired is a little concerning. Also, your condition is associated with breathing difficulties, and looking at these symptoms; I suggest you to rule out myasthenia gravis, which is an autoimmune disease. However, I have a few questions, Do you feel more tired during the day? Do you have difficulty climbing stairs? Do you have jaw pain if you chew more? However, I suggest you to let your parents know about this and consult a physician to rule out myasthenia gravis. I hope this helps. Kindly follow up with the answers.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
