Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been addicted to Codeine syrup for the last 14 years, and I would take three to four syrups daily. I had adverse side effects because of it, but I just ignored it. Last week, I had a mild stroke, and my left-sided limbs have been having difficulty moving. Doctors prescribed medicines and advised me to exercise by consulting a physiotherapist. I am doing all these regularly, but am unable to stop taking Codeine. I take at least one per day. Please let me know how it would adversely affect me in improving my condition.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern. Hope you are fine. Well, I am really sorry to hear that, and I might sound harsh, but you are literally killing yourself by taking Codeine. In spite of the fact that you recently suffered from a stroke, which was obviously due to Codeine. Please do not do that, even a single drop of codeine is poisonous for you now.
You cannot even imagine how dangerous it will be for your life if you still keep on taking Codeine, no matter how small the quantity is. Have strong willpower and stop taking it immediately. Think about your loved ones, think about how precious your life is to you and your loved ones. If you still find it difficult to quit, please visit a good de-addiction center and quit as soon as possible.
I hope my answer helped you. If you have further queries, you can write back to icliniq.com.
Thank you.
