Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My 4-year-old baby has a dry cough since three months and fever once a week.

Kindly advice.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Please get the child's complete blood count (CBC), C-reactive protein (CRP quantitative), and chest X-ray done. Further management will depend on these reports.

Till then please check the temperature with a thermometer. If the temperature is 100 degrees Fahrenheit or more, I suggest giving syrup Crocin DS (Paracetamol) (240 mg/ml) (dose as per the child's weight) SOS 4 to 6 hourly. If the temperature is 102 degrees Fahrenheit or more, I suggest giving syrup Ibugesic plus (Paracetamol and Ibuprofen) (dose as per the child's weight) SOS 6 to 8 hourly. If the temperature stays above 100 degrees Fahrenheit for more than three days or if the temperature crosses 103 degrees Fahrenheit, it is advisable to get evaluated physically by a pediatrician with possible blood investigations based on physical examination.

For coughing, I suggest syrup Levolin (Levosalbutamol, Ambroxol, and Guaifenesin) twice a day for five to seven days.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
