Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have dry eye syndrome and short sight. I have been using Hayne drops four times a day. For the last two to three days I am having severe strain in my eyes. Is there some medicine that I can take with the eye drops to reduce the strain? My screen time is quite high. Also, I have been hearing about eye vitamins that reduce eye strain. Could you kindly prescribe one?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your query and understand your concern. Dry eyes can be hyposecretive or evaporative in variety. Tests are required to confirm the type of dry eyes. I would suggest you some precautions.Reduce screen time (very important). Use antiglare glasses. Warm compresses help if there is meibomitis. Meibomitis is the inflammation of meibomian glands present in eyelids and it is one of the major causes of dryness. Keep using Sodium Hyaluronate eye drops. You can increase its frequency to six times a day. You can must include Omega-3 fatty acids in your diet. This helps in dry eyes if consumed for long period. A natural source of Omega-3 fatty acid is walnut etc. It is commercially available as Osmega (Omega-3 fatty acids) capsules 500 mg capsule daily for at least six months. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them and take medicines with their consent. There is no specific vitamin to reduce eye strain. Dry eyes need treatment for a very long period as it is a chronic disease. I would suggest you use medicines under the guidance of a local ophthalmologist. I hope this will help you. Thank you.
