Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have dry skin and I bought a body lotion but it did not moisturize my skin properly. I wanted to ask if I can apply coconut oil on my face and body first and then apply body lotion. Also, can I apply oil first and then other beauty creams and sunscreens? Please let me know the names of the oils I can apply to my skin in winter and summer.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read about your query and can understand your concern.
The dryness of the skin depends on the type of the skin individually.
I can suggest you try Aveeno (medicated lotion).
You can follow the following routine:
Please check whether the moisturizer has humectants or not. If humectants are present, I suggest you use the moisturizer with only an emollient content. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her, and use it with their consent. Because humectants will act only in humid climates and not in dry climates as they will draw water from the body itself in dry climates and make the skin more dry.
Following investigations are to be done:
1. Thyroid profile.
2. Fasting blood Sugar.
Treatment plan:
1. Use moisturizer as suggested.
