What causes a ringing sensation in the ears?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been having ear issues for a few days, starting with my left ear repeatedly repressurizing or kind of popping all night. The next day, I had pretty distressing ear ringing in my right ear, which was made much worse after I took a Tylenol and some drops. I am still dealing with the ringing, but it has improved quite a bit. I have not struggled much with a fullness sensation. Maybe a few times, but massaging helped. Same with pain, it aches sometimes, but not a lot. Most of my issues are in the right ear now. I have a home otoscope-type device and can tell the umbo is yellowish, but my left ear is not. I keep second-guessing myself due to not being in much pain. I am not on any medications.

Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I am very sorry about your medical condition, and I am glad that you are paying attention to changes in your body system. But do not worry. I am here to take care of you. Regarding your symptoms, I strongly believe you have developed an otitis media caused by a bacterial organism. I suggest you do an ear swab test and revert with the results, and also take the following:

  1. Two tablets of Co-Amoxiclav 625 mg orally twice daily for a week.

  2. Two tablets of Metronidazole 400 mg orally thrice daily for a week.

  3. Topical 0.1 % Chloramphenicol ear drops twice daily for a week.

I hope this information helps you.

Revert in case of queries.

Regards.
