My 6-year-old daughter has been suffering from severe eczema since infancy, and it is getting progressively worse despite everything we try. Her skin is constantly red, cracked, and bleeding, especially behind her knees, elbows, and around her neck. She scratches compulsively until she bleeds, even through cotton mittens at night.

We have tried every cream, ointment, and moisturiser the pediatric dermatologist has prescribed, but nothing provides lasting relief. She frequently misses school because other children stare and make hurtful comments about her appearance.

Swimming lessons had to be discontinued because chlorine makes the flares dramatically worse. The latest outbreak covers approximately 70 % of her body, and she's been on oral steroids four times this year already.

Our dermatologist mentioned biologic injections, but said insurance typically will not cover them for pediatric patients. The constant laundry with special detergents and daily bathing routines are time-consuming and expensive. Sleep is disrupted nightly because she wakes up scratching and crying from the itching. This is severely affecting her self-esteem and social development.

Are there any newer treatments specifically approved for children her age?
