Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been using Minoxidil to combat my receding hairline for months now. I have noticed a bump on my forehead that has not disappeared for about a month, where I used the treatment. Can I have some advice on this?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Folliculitis is sometimes found to be related to Minoxidil use. In that patients sometimes develop bumps on the skin, which can be painful on touch. You have not mentioned if it is painful or not? Do you have any lesions elsewhere in the body? Any itching or irritation after applying Minoxidil? If it is not painful, it can be a cyst. In that case, it might require an in-person consultation and examination. Use the following medications for five days. Take Tablet Cefadroxil 500 mg twice a day and Tablet Paracetamol 500 mg SOS, if the pain is there.
Patient's Query
Thank you doctor,
It is not painful, and there are no lesions aside from this one. There is not much irritation after using Minoxidil besides, sometimes my hair is itchy, but not badly.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Then it is likely an epidermoid cyst, which is a benign cyst developing from epidermal tissue. It is commonly seen in the head and neck area. They are harmless as such and are small only. Pain is rarely seen if there is a secondary infection. It does not usually require treatment unless bothered for cosmetic reasons. In that case, it needs to be excised. No oral or topical medications are there for this. Only minor surgery is required. Please avoid the medications in the last message.
