Patient's Query
Hello Doctor
I am worried about my erectile dysfunction (ED). I have been masturbating approximately two times per week for the past nine years. I am currently 23 years old, and I am finding that I can no longer achieve an erection through visual stimulation alone; I need physical stimulation (such as rubbing) to become erect.
What steps can I take to restore or improve my condition? Additionally, I feel very embarrassed about my penile size. When flaccid, I measure approximately two inches, and when erect, I am about five inches.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Masturbation is not the cause of your concern, but excessive worrying about it can contribute to the issue. At your age, masturbating two to three times per week is completely normal and not harmful. It can be seen as a form of natural maintenance, similar to how a car needs to be started periodically to keep it functioning well.
The fact that you can achieve an erection through physical stimulation (rubbing) indicates that there is no issue with your physiological mechanisms. This difficulty in responding to visual stimulation alone may be linked to psychological factors such as stress, anxiety, or overthinking.
To help improve your condition, I suggest you consider incorporating deep breathing exercises, regular walking, or other forms of physical activity into your routine to manage anxiety and promote overall wellness.
In terms of size, an erect penis length of five inches is within the average range. Penis size varies from person to person, and a flaccid size of two inches is not a concern. What matters more is the change in size and function, and an increase from two to five inches suggests good vascular capacity and erectile function.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer.
Kindly revert if there is any query.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thank you for your prompt and detailed response.
I have abstained from masturbation for about a month, but I have not noticed any improvement in my condition. I’m experiencing weak erections that subside quickly, along with a noticeable numbness in the testicles and reduced sensitivity along the shaft of the penis. Could this be a sign of nerve damage? And if so, is it possible that recovery could occur naturally with continued abstinence over time?
Kindly help.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
As I have mentioned earlier, masturbation is not the cause of the issue you are experiencing, so avoiding it is unlikely to improve your erections. There is no indication of nerve damage in your case; this typically occurs in older individuals or those with conditions like diabetes or other nerve-related diseases. Improvement would not come from simply stopping masturbation, but you may see positive changes through regular physical activity and breathing exercises.
I hope this provides some clarity and reassurance.
Please revert in case of further queries.
Thank you.
