Why am I not having morning erections?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have a problem with my erections. I do not experience morning erections, and some days my erections are more challenging than others, but they do not always reach full hardness.

Please guide.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern about your symptoms, which may indicate that you are experiencing erectile dysfunction (ED).

There are several potential reasons for this condition. Stress, particularly related to family issues, can be a significant factor, so planning for regular exercise and yoga may help alleviate some of that pressure.

Additionally, depression and low self-esteem, sometimes stemming from chronic habits like excessive masturbation, can contribute to ED.

Physical conditions such as varicocele can also play a role; an ultrasound of the scrotum may assist in diagnosing this issue. Other contributing factors could be related to one's sexual orientation, religious constraints, lifestyle habits like smoking and alcohol use, or underlying long-term illnesses such as cardiac, thyroid, or kidney diseases that require ongoing medication.

Vitamin deficiencies, particularly a lack of zinc and calcium, and hormonal issues like low testosterone or elevated prolactin levels, should also be evaluated.

For a comprehensive assessment, it is advisable to undergo tests such as a Doppler ultrasound of the penis, a pelvic ultrasound, a blood pressure check, random blood sugar levels, and hormone levels, including testosterone and TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone).

Sharing more specific details regarding these potential causes can help us work together to arrive at an accurate diagnosis and create a tailored treatment plan.

In the meantime, focusing on regular exercise and maintaining a balanced diet is essential. Basic exercises like Kegels, squats, running, or fast walking for at least five minutes can be beneficial.

Certain exercises can be linked to various sexual positions: for the missionary position, consider planks and push-ups; for standing positions, try bicep curls and pull-ups; and for doggy style, incorporate jump squats and walking lunges. For the cowgirl position, glute bridges and leg raises can be effective.

Diet also plays a significant role in supporting sexual health. Foods such as strawberries, apples, avocados, sweet potatoes, sesame seeds, almonds, garlic, and even a little chocolate can be helpful.

If you need a temporary solution, you may consider tablet Mildfil (Tadalafil) 5 mg twice daily.

I hope this helps with your concerns, and I look forward to your feedback for better patient care.

Thank you.
