Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My younger brother who is one year old has a medical problem. He swallowed a battery and it affected his esophagus. He now has a blockage in his esophagus which now makes him unable to swallow anything. An operation was done for him in the hospital in which they opened his esophagus and put a pipe in it that can enable food to pass in but, the pipe did not work and instead, it got worse. What can be done for his esophagus to open and work properly so he can eat? The blockage of his esophagus is making him thin. I need your help and advice.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

This is a very serious condition that we are looking at over here. Surgical correction has already been done. We should give some time for it to heal. Mostly it should heal. However, if it does not then other routes of giving food should be started. Also if food is not passing , it is advisable to consult a doctor as soon as possible as it may require a surgical correction and not medical treatment.

Thank you.

I hope your query got resolved.

Please feel free to reach me again, in case of further queries.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
