Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am suffering from constant GERD and sometimes belching while eating. I also need to swallow twice to get the food to go down.

I am taking Nexium in the morning and also Zantac and Seasonique.

Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I would suggest you to consult a gastroenterologist for examination and take medications with consent from the doctor.

  1. Medical management can be tried first for GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). Nexium can be taken for acidity induced by GERD.
  2. Avoid excess spicy and oily foods.
  3. The head should be elevated while sleeping.
  4. Go to sleep two hours after a meal.
  5. Take small meals at frequent intervals. A heavy meal at one particular time should be restricted.

If you have no improvement, then for a hiatus hernia, operative intervention is needed.

Take care.

I hope this will help you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
