How to manage sebum in the neck?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

How can I remove sebum from the back of my neck? I use a salicylic acid cleanser but it does not seem to go away.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

I am very sorry about your medical condition and I am glad that you are paying attention to changes in your body system. But do not worry. I am here to take care of you.

Regarding your symptoms, I believe you have developed a treatment failure from your acneiform eruption as this may be related to hormone imbalance, changes in cosmetics, or oily food intake.

I advise you to do the following:

  1. Tablet Minocycline (antibiotic) 500mg to be taken orally, thrice daily for one week.

  2. Apply topical 2 % Resorcinol (antiseptic and disinfectant) once a day or topical 0.1 % Tretinoin (retinoids) twice daily.

  3. Apply 20 % Azelaic acid (dicarboxylic acid) once daily or 5 % Dapsone gel (Sulfone antibiotics) once daily for 1 month.

Kindly consult a specialist doctor, talk with them, and take proper guidance.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
