Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have throat pain for the last two days. My body temperature is 37.2 degrees, and my SpO2 is 97 to 98 percent. Should I take a COVID-19 test? I am taking the medicine Amoxicillin for throat pain. It is much better, but my temperature is 37.2 degrees. Is it a fever or not? Please let me know.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Yes, you must get the COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) test done. You can either get the rapid antigen test or the RT-PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) done. Until the reports come, I suggest the following, 1. Tablet containing a combination of Amoxicillin 500 mg and Potassium Clavulanate 125 mg one tablet three times a day for five days. It is an antibiotic and can create loose motions in few people. If you happen to develop loose motions, you can start probiotics one tablet in the morning and evening for the next week. 2. Tablet Zerodol P (Aceclofenac and Paracetamol) (or equivalent) one tablet twice a day after food 12 hours apart for five days. 3. Tablet Pan D (Domperidone and Pantoprazole) (or equivalent) one tablet once a day before breakfast for one week. 4. Saltwater gargle eight to ten times a day for one month. 5. Avoid oily, spicy, and cold food or beverages. 6. Keep sipping on warm water every three hours. 7. Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption as much as possible. The last four points are essential and need to be followed as long as possible. I hope I have answered your query in detail. If there is anything more you need to know or inquire about, please do let us know, and we will get back to you soon. Warm regards.
