Can Duphaston tablets and Gravibinan injections be taken even after a false-positive pregnancy test?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had regular periods last month. But this month, I had spotting, bleeding, and dark brown discharge, but the pregnancy test strip showed positive. So the doctor gave me multivitamins, Duphaston tablets, and a Gravibinan injection. I took the medications and bled. But another doctor says I am not pregnant and to stop the medication. Please suggest to me what I should do.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

When you miss a period the first time, you should take a blood pregnancy test within three to four days. If there is recurrent spotting, a transvaginal scan and beta hCG should be tested. The urine pregnancy test detects pregnancy hormones, but a blood pregnancy test or serum beta hCG shows the status of the pregnancy stage, either abortion, ectopic, or normal healthy pregnancy.

So I suggest you do serum beta hCG and transvaginal scan. Repeat beta hCG after 48 hrs.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.
