Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My mother is a diabetic and hypertensive patient. She also takes medication for it. Now, she is suffering from a left femoral neck fracture. Is there any other treatment for this condition other than surgery? My doctor advised having hemiarthroplasty, but we are afraid of doing it at this age.
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I went through your query and understood your concern. For a 55-year-old lady who was doing all her activities without any difficulty, surgery is the best treatment. If the patient was walking well before the injury, it is the duty of the doctor to treat her in a way to let her walk again as soon as possible. This is possible only when surgery is done. However, there are many fractures that are incomplete and minor fractures for which surgery can be avoided. Surgery is not always necessary. Bed rest for three to four weeks is usually advised. I suggest you do an X-ray. I hope this has helped you.
Thank you.
