What are fertility awareness methods?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 29-year-old female. I am interested in learning about fertility awareness methods, including but not limited to the tracking of menstrual cycles, basal body temperature, cervical mucus changes, and ovulation prediction kits. I would appreciate guidance on how to effectively use these methods for family planning purposes. I would like to gain a better understanding of the menstrual cycle and its various phases. It would be helpful to know how to identify signs of ovulation and fertility, as well as any potential irregularities in the cycle. I am interested in knowing recommendations for optimizing our preconception health.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I read your query and understand your concern. Our menstrual cycle spans over 28 to 30 days in most females. The first part is the follicular phase, and in a 28 to 30-day cycle, there is ovulation after the follicular phase, followed by the luteal phase, followed by menstruation, when the menstrual periods happen. The fertility of a woman is highest near and during ovulation. Just before the menstrual periods and after the menstrual periods, the period is the safe period during which there are fewer chances of getting pregnant. I hope I cleared all your doubts.

Thank you.
