Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

There is evidence of breast-like tissue noted in the bilateral axillary area consistent with accessory breast tissue. Please go through my biopsy report.

Please help.

Answered by Dr. Obinna Ugwuoke

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query.

Fibrocystic disease of the breast is a benign (non-cancerous) breast condition. It results from just an exaggerated response of the breast tissue to hormones released from the ovaries, so the breast may feel lumpy or you may experience pain in your breast either before or during your period.

It also does not increase your risk of developing breast cancer.

The only problem with it is that it makes examination of the breast for more serious conditions difficult. Therefore, the a need for routine breast scans to check for those conditions that could develop in the breast.

Symptoms from the condition would most likely disappear at menopause since the disease is mainly a result of estrogen secretion.

For now, you can take a basic pain reliever for the breast tenderness. Some women also get better with a cold compress.

Hope it helps.

Thanks and regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for your reply.

Is there any relationship between pregnancy and this disease?

Please help.

Answered by Dr. Obinna Ugwuoke

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

There is no known relationship. Fibrocystic breast changes are common in non-pregnant women. It is an entirely different entity from pregnancy. Does not affect the chances of getting pregnant or affect the pregnancy state.

Hope it helps.

Thanks and regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
