Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
The flu season is upon us, and we have been taken over by the flu every year since COVID-19. This time, I need to be prepared. Is there any way?
I am a 50-year-old male, my wife is 46 years old, and my sons are 15 and 17 years old. I am looking for advice for all of them. What can we do if all of us have COVID-19? Before that, no one had ever had the flu or anything.
Please help.
Thanks.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Low temperatures can increase the likelihood of getting the flu. The body is not as efficient at fighting a virus when cold air enters the nose and upper airways, so viruses such as the common cold, the flu, and COVID-19(coronavirus) often spread more quickly in the winter.
Another contributing factor to cold and flu infections in winter is that we spend more time indoors as the weather becomes less hospitable. This might lead to two effects: overcrowded spaces helping disseminate virus-laden droplets from person to person, and central heating causing a drop in air humidity, which is also linked to influenza outbreaks. Only some measures, if taken, can effectively prevent the spread of flu.
I hope this helps.
Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.
Thank you.
